LIFE MODELLING IN CLAY

Tutor: Andrew Brown     10am to 4pm

July 14 - 18   10am - 4pm

5 days - £330  (includes all material and firing costs)

Class size: 9

Enjoy the challenges of working from the life model to produce 2/3 life size figures or smaller. Larger figures will be coil built without an armature allowing easy firing. This intensive course allows an opportunity for those with experience in modelling to push their work further, while the less experienced or complete beginner will be given plenty of guidance throughout. Work will be fired once dry to be collected at a later date.



GARDEN SCULPTURE

June 30 - July 4    10am to 4pm

5 days - £350 (includes all materials)

Have fun creating a large weatherproof sculpture for your garden (figure, animal or abstract). Working from your own ideas, you will begin by constructing an armature cut and modelled in polystyrene, followed by a layer of jesmonite ( a fume free user friendly material). Working further with jessmonite to model surface forms and detail before colouring and sealing the finished piece.



PORTRAIT HEAD IN CLAY

Fascinated with faces? Why not join us as we explore portrait sculpture over five days?  Work from life to create a lively portrait head. This course is suitable for all levels of experience. Hazel specialises in portrait sculpture and is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts



EXPRESSIVE PORTRAIT SCULPTURE

June 28/29     10am - 4pm

2 days: £160 (includes all materials, firing and model fees

Want to capture more expression and character in your portrait sculptures? Want time to experiment with different poses, textures? If yes, this two day course is for you. Using a different model each day you will have the chance to sculpt in clay a series of smaller heads and one larger. At a later stage you can choose to hollow out and fire these. The course is suited to those with some experience of portrait sculpture.Hazel Reeves is a specialist portrait sculptor and is on the Council of the Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, exhibiting her work at London galleries and across the South of England and Wales. 



DRAWING AND PAINTING FROM THE LIFE MODEL

Suitable for all levels of avility, this intensive course allows you to greatly increase your observational skills and learn to tackle with confidence, the problems presented with working from life during one sustained pose. Bernard's excellent and clear tuition will provide you with the tools to advance your work in your preferred medium.


DRAWING AND PAINTING FROM PHOTOGRAPHS

Use of photographic references in painting and drawing has gained in popularity and has become a convenient tool in providing subject matter to the artist. Emphasis will be on selecting information from two or more photographs and creating a composite picture in watercolour, oil paint or a drawing medium. All levels of ability welcome.



DRAW BIG

Two weekends - July 5&6 and 12&13

£200 

Life drawing with a difference! If you enjoy life drawing and would like a challenge this is the course for you. Working life size over four days onto large sheets of Fabriano cartridge paper (suitable for both wet and dry media) you will be encouraged to produce one or more expressive drawings or paintings of the model. Some experience of life drawing is necessary.



DRAW AND PAINT THE SUSSEX LANDSCAPE

Tutor: Robert Eadie

July 21 - 25     10am - 5pm

Class size: 8

5 days - £250

Based partly in the studio and partly in the countryside within a short walking distance from the studio, this week - long course aims to provide students with the time, space and guidance necessary to fully develop and complete a successful oil painting. Drawings and colour notes made outside will provide the basisi for a more formal and developed painting created back at the studio. Through known landscape painters, this course will demonstrate how a personal and expressive approach to painting nature can be achieved.
