Anatomy for Sculptors with Andy Sinclair
June 15 at 7pm

Specifically designed for sculptors and artists, professional sculptor Andrew Sinclair ARBS presents this fun, entertaining and unique approach to learning anatomy. Using a life model and skeleton, Andrew’s demontration brings to life this intriging subject. You’ll discover that your new found knowledge will be extremely valuable in your own figurative work.

Master Class – Bas Relief with Andy Sinclair
June 16 – 17 10am -4pm

In this master class, Andrew Sinclair ARBS will teach you the tricks of the trade when creating wonderful bas relief sculptures. Andrew has been a professional sculptor for 20 years.  During that time, one of his most prestigious commissions was creating a series of eleven bas relief sculptures for the royal box at Royal Ascot racecourse.  In this course he will share with you the incredible sculptural knowledge he has built up over his career, you can expand your sculptural repertoire and learn how to create a stunning bas relief.

Ceramic Glazing Workshop with Yueyin Taffs
June 23/24, 30 and July 1 10am to 4pm
4 days - £240 Class size: 7

Ceramic artist Yueyin Taffs is offering her expertise in glazes in this four day workshop that will take place over two weekends. The first weekend will be used to make small sculptures in stoneware and terracotta clays followed by the second weekend learning about glazing techniques to enhance these sculptures. Work will then be left to dry before firing and will need to be collected at a later date
. All levels of ability welcome.

Stoneware Ceramic Forms and Vessels – Sculpture for the Garden
Tutor: Marji Talbot

For those interested in producing sculpture to add interest to your garden or patio, join us to produce medium to large hand-built pieces to compliment your flowers and plants. Hand-building methods and surface decoration will be covered and all work will be fired to be collected at a later date. Some previous experience in clay modelling is desirable.

Portrait Head in Clay
Tutor: Hazel Reeves SWA FRSA
July 25 – 29

Fascinated with faces? Why not join us as we explore portrait sculpture over five weeks? Work from life to create a lively portrait head. This course is suitable for all levels of experience. Hazel specialises in portrait sculpture and is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts

Animal Sculpture – Cats in Clay
Tutor: Angela Hunter
July 2 – 6 10am to 4pm
5 days - £295 (includes firing + 1st bag of clay) Class size: 8

Interested in sculpting a wild or domestic cat in clay? Join this group and you will begin by creating several small scale models in either clay or wax before going on to make a basic armature for your feline form. You will learn how to build a hollow clay sculpture and how to prepare it for firing. All work will be fired to be collected at a later date. All abilities welcome.

Fun Ceramics Workshop for Beginners
Tutor: Pennie Gilles
Date July 21 10am to 4pm
Class size: 10 max

Make a monster, an animal, a sweet little hedgehog, possibly a Green Man, or maybe a cheeky chap to point down at you from the top of your shed. Learn the basic techniques needed for working in clay while you're having fun. Learn how to wedge clay to remove air, make a thumb pot as a base work to work from, try coiling and using 'slip' as glue. Work can be finished with oxides for colour and texture, and depending on the clay used, can be fired for indoor or outdoor use.

Life Modelling in Wax & Pewter Casting
Tutor: Andrew Brown
July 9 – 13 10am to 4pm
4 days - £295 Class size:

After learning how to prepare your own modelling wax and wax armatures, students will work from the life model producing two small (hand sized) sculptures before going on to cast one of these into pewter via the lost wax process.

Soft Stone Carving
Tutor: Thea Taylor
July 16 – 20 10am to 4pm
5 days - £200 plus materials

Enjoy learning to work intuitively in soft stone to produce imaginative work on a small scale. A selection of beautiful soft stones will be used. All practical aspects will be covered from the use of tools to polishing and finishing work. Beginners welcome.
