SCULPTURE COURSES
LIFE MODELLING IN CLAY
Tutor: Andrew Brown 10am to 4pm
June 17 – 21 10am - 4pm
5 days - £310 (includes all material and firing costs)
Class size: 8
Enjoy the challenges of working from the life model to produce 2/3 life size figures or smaller. Larger figures will be coil built without an armature allowing easy firing. This intensive course allows an opportunity for those with experience in modelling to push their work further, while the less experienced or complete beginner will be given plenty of guidance throughout. Work will be fired once dry to be collected at a later date.
GARDEN SCULPTURE

July 8 - 12 10am to 4pm
5 days - £350 (includes all materials)
Have fun creating a large weatherproof sculpture for your garden (figure, animal or abstract). Working from your own ideas, you will begin by constructing an armature cut and modelled in polystyrene, followed by a layer of jesmonite ( a fume free user friendly material). Working further with jessmonite to model surface forms and detail before colouring and sealing the finished piece.
PORTRAIT HEAD IN CLAY

Fascinated with faces? Why not join us as we explore portrait sculpture over five days? Work from life to create a lively portrait head. This course is suitable for all levels of experience. Hazel specialises in portrait sculpture and is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts
DRAWING AND PAINTING FROM THE LIFE MODEL

Suitable for all levels of avility, this intensive course allows you to greatly increase your observational skills and learn to tackle with confidence, the problems presented with working from life during one sustained pose. STILL LIFEDRAWING AND PAINTING

A still life can mean much more than depicting a bowl of fruit or a vase of flowers. Encouragement will be given towards bringing together an interesting personal choice of objects where scale relationships, local colour relationships, object surface relationships, cast shadow structure and composition will be considered and explored. This workshop will concentrate on the individuals' experience and understanding of their chosen medium. All levels of experience can be accommodated.
DRAW AND PAINT THE SUSSEX LANDSCAPE

Based partly in the studio and partly in the countryside within a short walking distance from the studio, this week - long course aims to provide students with the time, space and guidance necessary to fully develop and complete a successful oil painting. Drawings and colour notes made outside will provide the basisi for a more formal and developed painting created back at the studio. Through known landscape painters, this course will demonstrate how a personal and expressive approach to painting nature can be achieved.
