SATURDAY LIFE DRAWING AND PAINTING

All abilities welcome. Greatly increase your observational drawing skills and learn to tackle with confidence the problems confronted when drawing from the life model. Bernard's excellent and clear tuition will provide you with the tools to advance your work in your preferred medium.

EXPRESSIVE DRAWING AND PAINTING  (USING THE FIGURE)

This course is aimed at those who already have an understanding of observational drawing and are ready to experiment. The figure will not be used in a traditional life drawing sense. Working from the model during the first half of the course you will study and respond in drawing and painting to movement, negative space and abstract compositions made from sections of the human form. In later sessions the model will not be present allowing you to create and develop work based on your personal responses to what you have learned and experienced in previous sessions. 

DRAWING AND PAINTING - PORTRAIT AND LIFE

Explore working from the life model using a variety of media with a mix of long and short poses. Portrait sessions run through the whole of the spring term while sessions with the life model take place in the autumn and summer terms. All levels of ability are welcome.

UNTUTORED LIFE DRAWING

Cost: £60 for each 6week course
Wednesdays:  10:00am to 1:00pm
Autumn term: 12 weeks from Sept 4
Spring term: 6 weeks from Jan 11

THE ART OF COMPOSITION

Tutor: Helen Turner
Cost: £290
Dates: Autumn Term: Friday Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec. 2, 9
Times: 10am-4pm.
Class size: 8 max.
Discover the dynamics of composition by using a painting by an artist of your choice as the starting point. Through the time honoured tradition of 'transcription' your initial drawings and painted sketches from your chosen painting will help you achieve work that is fresh and exciting and original.

EXPERIMENTAL PAINTING

Dates: Spring Term: March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Times: 10am-4pm
Class size: 8 max.
This course offers the chance to be less precious in your approach to painting, Using mixed media and experimental techniques, you will learn how to make positve and creative decisions in your work. Helen's teaching allows a creative, free and yet structured environment to help you discover your own individual, expressive way to paint.

PRINTMAKING STUDIO 

We are expecting to move premises from Unit 9 Huffwood Estate from the 1st of September so will not be offering courses/open access for a period of time this autumn. Please keep an eye here and on our website below for updates on this.

Membership: £50 for a year gives the individual use of the workshop facilities through Open Access, the opportunity to be involved in group exhibitions and to show work/ have a posting on our website (see below). To become a member, individuals must be experienced enough to work in the studio without tutor support.

Open Access: Membership cost of £20 per day, non members £20 per 3hours or £35 per day. Studio materials will incur a charge according to usage. Members can bring their own materials if preferred.

Courses: We aim to run courses covering a variety of printmaking processes throughout the year. Please check our website periodically for details. These will be advertised on the website.
